The ACEP Program has three modules that are designed to help a community complete all of the parts of its community energy plan:
Module I: Education, Vision and Community Profile
In the first module, activities include community meetings or workshops with the purpose of developing guiding principles and a common vision for the community. The community will also complete a profile with information such as community size, location and its current electricity situation.
Module II: Community Baseline Study
In the second module, the community will look at its total electricity use to find out how much is being used and where cost savings might be possible. The information gathered in the baseline study will help determine if and where conservation and renewable micro-generation benefits can be found. It will also help determine how existing community policies and procedures could impact the ability of the community to carry out the Guiding Principles and realize the community vision.
Module III: Development of a Community Energy Plan
Module III will help the community identify its electricity conservation priorities, develop a conservation action plan and make suggestions for existing community policy changes that might affect electricity use in the community. The plan will also include a review of renewable micro-generation opportunities and developing a micro-generation action plan.
