How to Develop an Aboriginal Community Energy Plan

Print

A community energy plan is a high-level strategic plan that can help your community determine its current electricity usage and future energy needs. The plan should be accurate and provide a roadmap for long-term direction.

The Aboriginal Community Energy Plan (ACEP) Program is designed to assist First Nations and Métis communities in Ontario in understanding and planning for their electricity needs. It is also designed to help them discover options available for conservation and small-scale renewable generation in their communities.

The ACEP Program will provide funding in three areas:

  1. education, vision and creating a community profile
  2. carrying out a community baseline study
  3. developing a community energy plan.
