Your equipment manufacturer or supplier should supply you with manuals and operating instructions. These documents should include details about maintenance requirements and how much time is needed to train your staff.

You will also need to consider general site maintenance, including road clearing.

Accounting and Legal

For a larger project, you will need qualified accounting and legal experts to help you set up and maintain your company. Their responsibilities will include keeping track of finances, ensuring that all legal requirements are met and preparing annual financial statements. You are responsible for obtaining all appropriate or required professional advice or services.

Staffing and Training

Renewable energy facility staff will need certain technical skills specific to your project.

Large operations may require an individual with a university electrical engineering degree. For smaller operations, you may be able to rely on people with expertise obtained through community college programs and apprenticeships.

Skills can be increased through training that may be offered by equipment manufacturers or consultants in some cases. You should take steps to ensure that your community's investment is managed by qualified staff for every project.
