Costs and Revenues

Costs

Defining the costs of a project can be difficult. Cost estimates will be less accurate during the pre-feasibility stage of a project and can be very site-specific. Costs will become more accurate as more research is done and as plans are finalized.

Costs can be grouped into the following major categories:

  1. Pre-feasibility costs
  2. Planning, design and development costs
  3. Permitting and approval costs
  4. Capital costs of construction and commissioning
  5. Ongoing operation costs

Revenues

The revenues for a specific project will be determined by the contract and will depend on the size of the project and the type of fuel. Click here to find out about the feed-in tariff prices for renewable energy in Ontario under the FIT Program.

Qualifying Aboriginal and community projects are eligible to receive an additional payment (called a "price adder") in addition to the contract price. Click here to learn more about the price adder.
