How to Develop an Aboriginal Community Energy Plan

Text Size:

An Aboriginal Community Energy Plan is a high-level and long-term strategic plan that can help your community determine its current energy usage and the future energy needs of its projects. The plan should be accurate and provide a roadmap for long-term direction.

Some activities associated with creating an Aboriginal Community Energy Plan may be eligible for some funding from the Aboriginal Renewable Energy Fund.

A community energy plan can also help identify opportunities for:

  • conservation
  • improved energy efficiency
  • renewable energy generation.

For remote communities, a community energy plan may identify options for grid connection and for reducing reliance on diesel.

Click on the link above to learn about the key steps for developing a basic community energy plan.
